Chess Makes Kids Smart
This book is an illustrated guide simplifying the game of chess for beginners. Endorsed by Rotary International as a tool. It's a great way to get into chess and my recommendation.
Social play
I've played many turns and waited many others — yet the best part of playing chess is still the interaction of player versus player.
A simple game that has many outcomes that are near mechanical is mediated by the board, timer and the players themselves. Learning to play with others greatly improves the experience and enjoyment gained from chess.
If you can find a place nearby, maybe the right time of day — a miraculous thing can occur, the refined game of chess can be played — both players gaining from the experience and better for the time spent.
If you're more comfortable online, then there are many outlets for the fine game to occur; Just remember that part of the game is the social interaction. Let your opponent know a bit about yourself, where you're from or just say 'Good morning'... since they're about to wake up to a whoopin'
